WEEK 1 READINGS

DAY 1 DAY 2 DAY 3  |  DAY 4 DAY 5

DECEMBER 4 // Thursday: Nothing is Impossible

Scripture: Luke 1:36-37, 46-55 “Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.’ And Mary said: ‘My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me—holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.'”

Reflection: Gabriel pointed Mary to Elizabeth’s miracle as proof that God specializes in the impossible. When we’re facing something that seems beyond our capacity, God often gives us living examples of His faithfulness to strengthen our faith. Elizabeth’s pregnancy was a sign to Mary that God’s promises are trustworthy. Look around—God is working miracles in the lives of others to encourage you that He can do the same in your situation. Nothing is too hard for Him.

Reflection Question: Who in your life is a living testimony of God doing the impossible? How does their story strengthen your faith?

Application Step: Reach out to someone whose faith story has encouraged you. Thank them for being a witness to God’s faithfulness, and share how their testimony has impacted you.
