Welcome to The Preschool Blog
We hope that these following weekly resources will provide an online option for you and your family to stay consistent. These resources are what your preschoolers experience on a weekly basis, so we are excited for you as parents to take part with your child!

Activities:
- Home Connection
- NEED: LEGO® DUPLO® blocks or MEGA Blocks
- DO:
- Before the Activity: Set out the blocks and gather the child to build.
- During the Activity: Encourage the child to work together to build a house. Then ask them to build a table and a heart.
- After the Activity: Introduce the Bible Story.
- Say:
- Before the Activity: “Friend, look at these blocks! Let’s do some building!”
- During the Activity: “First, let’s work together to build a house. (Pause.) Your house looks great! Now, let’s build a table. (Pause.) Wow! You are so good at building. I have one last thing for you to build. Let’s work together to build a heart. (Pause.) Amazing! You did a great job, builders!”
- After the Activity: “We worked together and built a house, a table, and a heart! We are going to hear about all these things in our Bible Story today. Come with me.”
- Drive Time
- While on the go, look for people who are letting their light shine. Are they saying kind words? Sharing? Helping? All of these are ways we can love like Jesus and let our light shine.

Activities:
- Home Connection
- NEED: Painter’s tape and toy cars
- DO:
- Before the Activity: Make long roads on the floor with painter’s tape.
- During the Activity: Show the child how to drive the toy cars along the tape roads. When you say “Stop!” ask the child to stop their car and say, “Jesus wants to be your friend forever.” When you say, “Go, go, go!” ask the children to drive their cars on the road again. Continue saying “Stop!” and “Go, go, go!” as long as time and interest allow.
- After the Activity: Tell the child to stand on the road and hold their toy car up in the air as you review the Bottom Line.
- Say:
- Before the Activity: “Hi, friend! Come pick out a car and stand near this tape road. We’re going to play a game!”
- During the Activity: “When I say, ‘Go, go, go!’ drive your car on the road like this. (Demonstrate.) When I say, ‘Stop!’ stop your car and say, ‘Jesus wants to be your friend forever!’ Let’s play! Ready? Go, go, go! (Pause.) Stop! Jesus wants to be your friend forever! Great job! Let’s drive some more. Go, go, go! (Pause.) Stop! Jesus wants to be your friend forever! (Repeat as desired.) That was fun!”
- After the Activity: “In our Bible Story, Jesus gave His friends, the disciples, a very important job to go and tell everyone everywhere that Jesus is alive and Jesus wants to be their friend forever. We can do what Jesus says and do that important job too! Jesus says to go, go, go and tell everyone everywhere that Jesus wants to be their friend forever. We can do that, because [Bottom Line] I can do what Jesus says, and you can do what Jesus says! Who can do what Jesus says? [Bottom Line] I can do what Jesus says!”
- Cuddle Time
- Cuddle with your child and pray: "God, You love everyone everywhere. You sent Jesus to everyone everywhere. Please help us go and tell others about Jesus so they will know how much Jesus loves them and wants to be their friend forever."

Activities:
- Home Connection
- NEED: Flashlight; Optional: nightlight or small lamp
- DO:
- Before the Activity: Stand in the middle of the activity area with the child standing in front of you. Turn the flashlight on and point it at the floor. Optional: Plug in the nightlight or turn on the lamp, and dim or turn off lights.
- During the Activity: Shine the flashlight onto the floor in different areas of your activity area and encourage the child to run to the light. Once the child is standing on the light, move the light to a different area and encourage them to follow the light. Repeat as desired.
- After the Activity: Introduce the Bible Story.
- Say:
- Before the Activity: “Come stand in front of me, and let’s play a fun flashlight game!”
- During the Activity: “When you see the light the flashlight makes on the floor, I want you to run to it. Ready? (Point the light away from where the children are standing.) Great job! Let’s do it again! (Repeat moving the light all around your activity area.) You are so good at following the light.”
- After the Activity: “Today in our Bible Story, we are going to hear how we can do what Jesus says and let our lights shine!”
- Morning Time
- When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: "Good morning, [child's name]! It's time to open your curtains so the light is not hiding. Jesus says to let our light shine too. Don't hide it. Shine it!"

- NEED: No supplies needed
- DO:
- Before the Activity: Gather the child in the activity area.
- During the Activity: Count to three and shout, “Run!” Encourage the child to run around. Count to three again and shout, “Freeze!” Encourage the child to freeze. Repeat as desired.
- After the Activity: Introduce the Bible Story.
- Say:
- Before the Activity: “Friend, come join me over here. We’re going to play a fun running game.”
- During the Activity:“I’m going to count to three and either shout: ‘Run!’ or ‘Freeze!’ If I say ‘run,’ run around our activity area. If I say ‘freeze,’ freeze right where you are. Ready? One, two, three, RUN! (Pause.) One, two, three, FREEZE! Great job, friend. (Repeat as desired.) Wow, that was fun!”
- After the Activity: “Today we’re going to hear a Bible Story about when Jesus had to wait three days before He did something super-exciting!”
- Morning Time
- When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: "Good morning, [child's name]! It's time to get up and celebrate! Jesus is alive, and He wants to be our friend forever! Yay, Jesus!"

Activities:
- Home Connection
- NEED: Real or artificial leaves, preschool-safe magnifying glasses, and a plastic bin
- DO:
- Before the Activity: Place leaves in the bin and set on the table. Place magnifying glasses on the table next to the bin.
- During the Activity: Encourage the child to use the magnifying glass to look at the different leaves.
- After the Activity: Introduce today’s Bible Story and how people used leaves to celebrate Jesus.
- Say:
- Before the Activity: “Friend, come over and look what I have in this bin! Look at all the beautiful leaves!”
- During the Activity: “Let’s use these magnifying glasses to look more closely at all the different leaves. Look at the front and back of each leaf. Aren’t they amazing!? Pick another leaf to explore. (Repeat as desired.) That was so much fun. Great job exploring all the leaves!”
- After the Activity: “Today we’re going to hear a story about people who used leaves to celebrate Jesus. I can’t wait to hear our story!”
- Bath Time
- Play music that celebrates Jesus during bath time. Sing together and talk about why we praise Jesus. Jesus is God's Son. Jesus loves us. Jesus is alive. Jesus wants everyone to be His friend forever. There are so many reasons to celebrate Jesus!
- Weekly Activities

This week: Jesus chooses 12 people, from different jobs and families, to follow Him and become His friends, the disciples.

Activities:
- Home Connection
- NEED: Butcher paper and markers
- DO:
- Before the Activity: Lay the butcher paper on the table. Write “GOOD FRIEND” in large block letters at the top of the page. Gather the child to sit around the table.
- During the Activity: Ask the child to list ways to be a good friend like Jesus. As they call out their answers, write them down in large block letters or draw simple pictures to illustrate each on the butcher paper. If they need some prompting, give a few answers to help them: a good friend listens, a good friend helps, a good friend shares, etc. Talk about each of the ways listed.
- After the Activity: Review the Bottom Line.
- Say:
- Before the Activity: “Friend, come sit with me at the table. Look at this piece of paper: it says ‘good friend.’ Who do we know is a good friend? (Pause.) Jesus! That’s right!”
- During the Activity: “We’ve been talking about how Jesus was a good friend. Can you name some ways we can be a good friend like Jesus? (Write or draw the child’s answers.) Look at this awesome list! These are great ideas! We can be a good friend like Jesus when we (read some of the answers from their list).”
- After the Activity: “I’m so glad that Jesus wants to be our friend forever. Who wants to be your friend forever? [Bottom Line] Jesus wants to be my friend forever.”
- Drive Time
- While on the go, talk about what good friends do. A good friend might share with you, spend time with you, or say kind words to you. Talk about how one time, Jesus washed His friends' feet to show them that a good friend puts others first and that they are never too important to serve others.

- DO:
- Before the Activity: Gather on the floor together with the child.
- During the Activity: Encourage the child to use the baby wipes to clean the feet of the baby dolls as you review the Bible Story together.
- After the Activity: Let the child hug a baby as you say the Bottom Line together.
- Say:
- Before the Activity: “Our little friends have dirty feet. Will you come help me wash their feet?”
- During the Activity: (As the child wipes the dolls with wipes.) “Jesus’ friends, the disciples, had dirty feet in our Bible Story. Jesus was a good friend, and He washed all His friends’ feet, like you’re washing your toy’s feet. Jesus is a good friend, and He wants to be your friend forever!
- After the Activity: “Another way we can be a good friend is to give our friends a hug. Give your toy a big hug! (Hug a doll with the child.) Aww . . . you’re being a good friend, like Jesus! Jesus is the BEST friend because Jesus wants to be our friend forever! Who wants to be your friend forever? [Bottom Line] Jesus wants to be my friend forever!”
- Cuddle Time
- Cuddle with your child and pray: "God, thank You that Jesus wants everyone to follow Him. We pray that (name friends and family together) will follow Jesus."

Activities:
- Home Connection
- NEED: Large, plastic bin; beach towels; water; big kitchen spoons; and beach buckets; Optional: blue pom-poms in place of water Note: Never leave a tub of water unattended. An adult leader should always be present. When the activity is over, please discard the water immediately.
- DO:
- Before the Activity: Lay a towel on a table and place the bin on top. Fill the bin with water. Place kitchen spoons, buckets, and remaining towels next to the bin.
- During the Activity: Encourage the child to scoop the water out of the bin to fill one of the buckets. Make mention of how the different types of spoons scoop differently. Pour out the water once a bucket gets full. Repeat as much as possible.
- After the Activity: Introduce the Bible Story.
- Say:
- Before the Activity: “Wow, friend! Come over to the table and look at this big bin of water. Let’s use these spoons to fill our buckets.”
- During the Activity: “Dip your spoon into the bin of water and move it to a bucket. (Pause.) Be careful and try to get all the water into the buckets. (Pause.) That spoon is good for scooping, but this one is not as good. I love how carefully you’re filling the buckets. (Pause.) Way to scoop that water. That bucket is full. Let me pour the water back into the bin. Now you can scoop the water and fill the bucket again. Great job scooping the water and filling the buckets!”
- After the Activity: “Today we’re going to hear a Bible Story about a woman who went to fill her bucket with water, and she met someone really exciting.”
- Morning Time
- When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: "Good morning, [child's name]! Today we get to go to (school, grocery store, park, etc.). Does Jesus want to be friends with the people at [name of place]? Of course! Jesus loves everyone, everywhere, and He wants to be their friend forever too!"

FEBRUARY 25TH PRESCHOOL CURRICULUM

This week: Jesus tells His friends, the disciples, to let the children come to Him.
Insight: COMPASSION
Discipleship Kit:

- Memory Verse Video – Your preschooler will learn this month’s memory verse along with hand signals
Activities:
- Home Connection
- NEED: No supplies needed
- DO:
- Before the Activity: Encourage the child to join you.
- During the Activity: Walk to the opposite of the activity area. Encourage the child to run or walk fast to you when you say, “Go,” and freeze when you say, “Stop.” Continue until the child reaches you. Repeat as desired.
- After the Activity: Review the Bible Story.
- Say:
- Before the Activity: “Friend, come stand here with me! Let’s play a game together.”
- During the Activity: “I’m going to walk to this side of the room. When I say, ‘go,’ I want you to run/walk fast to me. But when I say, ‘stop,’ you need to freeze where you are. Are you ready to play? Let’s GO! (Pause.) Stop! Wow! Look how close you got to me. Ready, set, GO! (Pause.) Stop! (Continue until the child gets to you.) That was so much fun! Let’s do it again. Stay where you are, and I’ll go to the other side.” (Repeat as desired.)
- After the Activity: “This game reminds me of our Bible Story today when the disciples said, ‘STOP’ and Jesus said, ‘GO!’ Remember in our story, we heard how the children wanted to get close to Jesus, but the disciples said no. Jesus told the disciples to let the children come to Him because He loves children. [Bottom Line] Jesus loves everyone! Who does Jesus love? [Bottom Line] Jesus loves everyone!”
- Bath Time
- Use bath crayons to practice drawing hearts together. Each time you draw a heart, say: "Jesus loves me!" Then, when you pick your child up to get them out of the tub, say: "One, two, three! Jesus loves ME!"

This week: Zacchaeus climbs a tree to see Jesus. Jesus tells him to come down, and then goes to Zacchaeus’ house.

Activities:
- Home Connection
- NEED: Toy dishes, toy food, and plush friends
- DO:
- Before the Activity: TPlace the plush friends on the other side of the activity area.
- During the Activity: Encourage the child to set the table and prepare and serve a pretend meal. Ask the child to select a plush friend to bring with them to dinner. Sit with the child and their plush friends and enjoy the meal.
- After the Activity: Introduce the Bible Story.
- Say:
- Before the Activity: “Friend! Let’s work together to make a special meal.”
- During the Activity: “We have dishes that we can set the table with and food that we can cook and serve. Will you help me put the dishes around the table? (Pause.) Awesome, helper! WOW, this meal looks amazing! Let’s invite some friends to dinner. I see some friends that look hungry. Go choose a friend to bring to dinner. (Pause.) That was a wonderful meal we got to enjoy with our friends!”
- After the Activity: “In our Bible Story today, we’ll hear how Jesus went to someone’s house to eat a meal.”
- Drive Time
- While on the go, take turns naming things we can climb. (For example, a ladder, stool, rope, tree, etc.) Talk about how Zacchaeus climbed a tree so he could see Jesus. Jesus was kind and loving to Zaccaheus, because Jesus wanted to be his friend forever.
