MARCH 17TH PRESCHOOL CURRICULUM

“I have called you friends.”

John 15:15, NIV

Bottom Line: Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

This week: Jesus chooses 12 people, from different jobs and families, to follow Him and become His friends, the disciples.

Insight: CONNECTION

Discipleship Kit:

  • Parent Guide – Use this parent guide to help you walk through discipling your preschooler this week
  • Story Video – Each week there will be a new Story Video to watch (from Orange Media)
  • Memory Verse Video –  Your preschooler will learn this month’s memory verse along with hand signals

Activities:

  • Home Connection
    • NEED: Butcher paper and markers
    • DO:
      • Before the Activity: Lay the butcher paper on the table. Write “GOOD FRIEND” in large block letters at the top of the page. Gather the child to sit around the table.
      • During the Activity: Ask the child to list ways to be a good friend like Jesus. As they call out their answers, write them down in large block letters or draw simple pictures to illustrate each on the butcher paper. If they need some prompting, give a few answers to help them: a good friend listens, a good friend helps, a good friend shares, etc. Talk about each of the ways listed.
      • After the Activity: Review the Bottom Line.
    • Say:
      • Before the Activity: “Friend, come sit with me at the table. Look at this piece of paper: it says ‘good friend.’ Who do we know is a good friend? (Pause.) Jesus! That’s right!”
      • During the Activity: “We’ve been talking about how Jesus was a good friend. Can you name some ways we can be a good friend like Jesus? (Write or draw the child’s answers.) Look at this awesome list! These are great ideas! We can be a good friend like Jesus when we (read some of the answers from their list).”
      • After the Activity: “I’m so glad that Jesus wants to be our friend forever. Who wants to be your friend forever? [Bottom Line] Jesus wants to be my friend forever.”
  • Drive Time
    • While on the go, talk about what good friends do. A good friend might share with you, spend time with you, or say kind words to you. Talk about how one time, Jesus washed His friends' feet to show them that a good friend puts others first and that they are never too important to serve others.
