JANUARY 21ST PRESCHOOL CURRICULUM

“The people were amazed at his teaching.”

Matthew 7:28, NCV

Bottom Line: Jesus teaches me important things.

This week: Jesus tells a story about a man who built bigger barns for all his food to teach us that it is better to share.

Insight: TRUTH

Discipleship Kit:

  • Parent Guide – Use this parent guide to help you walk through discipling your preschooler this week
  • Story Video – Each week there will be a new Story Video to watch (from Orange Media)
  • Memory Verse Video –  Your preschooler will learn this month’s memory verse along with hand signals

Activities:

  • Home Connection
    • NEED: No supplies needed
    • DO:
      • Before the Activity: Gather the child in your activity area. Review the Memory verse with the motions.
      • During the Activity: Then lead the child to sing the words of the verse to the tune of “The Farmer in the Dell.”
      • After the Activity: Remind the child that the people were amazed by Jesus’ teaching because it IS amazing!
    • Say:
      • Before the Activity: “Friend, come stand here with me. Let’s say our Memory verse together and do the motions. Ready? ‘The people (spread arms out) were amazed (hold hands out like binoculars, open and shut) at his teaching,’ (pull O-hands from head) Matthew 7:28. (Open hands like a book.) Good job, friends!”
      • During the Activity:

“Now let’s sing the verse. I’ll sing it once and then you can join me.”

Sing the words to the tune of “Farmer in the Dell”)

        “The people were amazed,

        The people were amazed.

        At his teaching,

        The people were amazed.”

        (Repeat as desired.)

        “Yay, hooray! Great job singing!”

      • After the Activity: “Let’s do the motions one more time as we say our verse together. ‘The people (spread arms out) were amazed (hold hands out like binoculars, open and shut) at his teaching,’ (pull O-hands from head) Matthew 7:28. (Open hands like a book.) “The people WERE amazed at Jesus’ teaching because what He had to say was amazing! Jesus taught so many amazing things. Who teaches you important things? [Bottom Line] Jesus teaches me important things!”
  • Drive Time
    • While on the go, look for a barn or storage building. Take guesses as to what might be in the barn/building. Talk about the story Jesus told about the man who built bigger barns to store all of his food instead of sharing it with others. Now name one thing you can share today.
