Promise Home is located one hour East from San Pedro Sula directly between El Progreso and Tela in the village of El Portillo. The vision for Promise Home Orphanage was conceived by Bill Hayden in the mountains of Nicaragua while visiting an orphanage. Feeling an overwhelming prompting, Bill quietly separated from the larger group. He began to pray, “God, whatever you want me to do. Wherever you want me to go. I am willing.” God answered that prayer with the vision to build an orphanage in Honduras. Bill has been obedient to follow God where He leads-even to a nation where formal schooling ends at fifth grade; and where most children do not survive to become teenagers, as many die from malnutrition, starvation, sickness, and drugs. 

The vision is to save the children who have been abused and abandoned. Promise Home will exhaust all means at their disposal to save as many children as possible. 

The Heights supports Promise Home financially, physically and spiritually and by sending teams to help locally with building projects, VBS events, and sharing God’s love through time spent with the children. June 2023, we had a team travel to Honduras to serve on mission. Our team spent the week evangelizing at a nearby village, meeting families’ physical needs through providing beans and rice, and sharing the gospel. During this time, they also invited people to Promise Home church each night where there was worship and teachings through Romans. Our team also spent lots of time playing with and loving on kids at Promise Home Orphanage. 

 Visiting Promise Home is a powerful reminder of God’s love and the importance of serving and loving others. We are so thankful to see God continue to move in Honduras!
