MEET THE MURPHYS

Jim and Sandra Murphy each bring unique journeys of faith that God wove into a shared calling to serve in Honduras. Jim didn’t grow up in church and wasn’t looking for God when, at twenty-six, he came to faith through the witness of a friend. Discipled through small groups and stirred by an encounter with a Tanzanian pastor, he developed a burden for the nations that led him on short-term trips—including his first visit to Promise Home Orphanage in 2012. Sandra’s story began in hardship, but she experienced the steady love of her adoptive father and later a personal encounter with Christ that transformed her life. At a women’s retreat, she received a vision of serving overseas, a call confirmed when she met Jim soon after. Later that same year the two were married, and their paths converged in a shared passion for discipleship and mission. Serving now through Promise Home, they combine Jim’s desire to see believers grow as disciples with Sandra’s heart of mercy and compassion, pointing others to the hope and love of Christ.

Promise Home Orphanage is a ministry dedicated to rescuing, nurturing, and equipping children in Honduras with the hope of Christ. Their work reflects a holistic vision: to provide not only a safe and loving family environment, but also education, discipleship, and opportunities for a brighter future.

  • Caring for Children
    • Offer a family setting where abandoned or at-risk children experience love, stability, and the truth of the gospel.
    • Provide food, healthcare, and spiritual care to meet children’s needs in body, soul, and spirit.
    • Surround children with long-term direction, discipleship, and the foundation of Christ’s love.
  • Education & Leadership Development
    • Ensure every child has access to quality education, with opportunities to attend college or vocational training.
    • Equip the next generation of Honduran leaders to become agents of change in their communities and beyond.
  • Missional Opportunities
    • Host short-term mission teams to invest in children’s lives and serve the surrounding community.
    • Invite believers to participate in the Great Commission through hands-on ministry in Honduras.
