GREATER EUROPE MISSION (GEM)

MEET GEM
For more than 70 years, Greater Europe Mission (GEM) has been a light in one of the most spiritually challenging regions of the world. On a continent now considered post-Christian, GEM workers have devoted themselves to creating relationships and environments of grace where people near and far from God feel welcomed. Their driving passion is simple: to see Europe transformed by the love of Jesus.
The Heights was first connected to GEM through our long-time friend, John Burns, and today we are grateful to partner with this ministry as they labor for revival across Europe.
ALL ABOUT GREATER EUROPE MISSION
GEM is a diverse network of locals, outsiders, and newcomers—disciples who make disciples—working across Europe to engage people with the Gospel and multiply the Church.
Relational Disciple-Making
- Develop intentional, Christ-centered relationships that help people trust and follow Jesus daily.
- Focus on walking alongside others as they grow, not just asking for one-time decisions.
Biblical Education & Leadership
- Equip students, pastors, and church leaders through theological training and mentoring.
- Strengthen the European church to disciple and send its own leaders.
Community & Specialized Ministries
- Refugee care: Serve displaced peoples with compassion and practical support.
- Justice ministries: Reach victims of exploitation with Christ’s love.
- Workplace and campus ministries: Engage people where they live, study, and work.
- Sports, camps, children, and youth: Create spaces for outreach, discipleship, and spiritual renewal.
- Business as mission & creative arts: Meet needs and open Gospel conversations through entrepreneurship and artistic expression.
Church Planting & Partnerships
- Plant healthy, reproducing churches throughout Europe.
- Connect churches in the U.S. and Europe to collaborate in fulfilling the Great Commission.
WAYS TO PRAY
- Pray for revival across Europe, that the Gospel would reawaken hearts on a continent that has largely forgotten it.
- Pray for GEM workers as they build relationships, disciple believers, and plant churches in challenging contexts.
- Pray for wisdom and endurance as GEM responds to crises such as war, refugee movements, and cultural unrest.
- Pray for new workers to be raised up and sent to Europe, where the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few.
