SUMMER READING PLAN
This Summer, we are walking through the Minor Prophets in the Old Testament! These often-overlooked books are rich with truth about who God is and how He calls His people to live. Joel warns of a locust plague as a sign of God’s judgment and calls people to repent. He speaks of the “Day of the Lord”—a time of both judgment and hope. Key themes are repentance, God’s mercy, restoration, and God’s Spirit being poured out on all people.
Malachi calls out the people and priests for dishonoring God through careless worship and disobedience. He reminds them that God sees everything and promises justice. Key themes are faithfulness, judgment, God’s love, and the coming of a Savior.
Micah warns of judgment for sin and injustice but also gives hope for restoration. He foretells the birth of a ruler in Bethlehem. Key themes are justice, mercy, humility, and hope through a coming Savior.
Nahum announces God’s judgment on Nineveh for its violence and evil. He reminds us that while God is patient, He is also just. Key themes are God’s justice, the fall of the wicked, and hope for God’s people.
Haggai urges the people to rebuild God’s temple instead of focusing only on their own lives. He promises that God will bless their obedience. Key themes are prioritizing God, obedience, renewal, and God’s presence and blessing.
Amos speaks out against injustice, corruption, and empty religion. He warns that God will judge both Israel and other nations. Key themes are justice, righteousness, God’s judgment, and hope for restoration.
