Scripture Passage:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Devotional Thought:
Paul writes that anyone in Christ is a new creation — the old has passed away, the new has come. But he doesn’t stop at personal transformation. He immediately connects it to a mission: “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.”
This is where the prodigal’s story extends beyond his own homecoming. Once he’s welcomed back — robe, ring, feast and all — the story doesn’t end there for the rest of us watching. We’ve received the same reconciliation Paul describes, and now we carry it forward as “ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.”
Think again about the father in Luke 15, and notice he never sends a servant to fetch his son or drag him home. He waits, watches, and runs to meet him personally. But once the son is home, the father’s next move is inviting everyone else into the celebration — including the older brother, who resists. Reconciliation was never meant to stay contained to one relationship. It was meant to spread.
This is the connection to “your one.” The mission Paul describes isn’t abstract. It’s the literal work of being part of how someone else gets to experience the father running toward them. You’ve been reconciled — not to keep that news to yourself, but to become the very means by which God appeals to someone still far off.
