March 26: God Near in the Quiet

Scripture:
1 Kings 19:1–13

Devotional Thought:
Elijah expected God to show up dramatically—but God came quietly. Not in wind, not in fire, not in noise, but in a gentle whisper. This passage reminds us that intimacy often deepens not through intensity, but through attentiveness.

Silence can feel uncomfortable, especially when we want clarity or reassurance. Yet God’s nearness is often most tangible when we stop striving and start listening. The whisper requires presence, patience, and trust.

If God feels distant, it may be because life is too loud. Intimacy grows when we create space to hear His still, gentle voice.

Reflection:
• How comfortable are you with silence before God?
• What distractions make it hard to listen?

Application:
Spend a few intentional minutes today in silence, inviting God to speak.
