February 27: Prepared for Purpose

Scripture:
Luke 4:14-30 (ESV)

Devotional Thought:
After enduring 40 days in the wilderness and standing firm in temptation, Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit. His first act? Reading from Isaiah and proclaiming that the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him to bring good news to the poor, liberty to the captive, and healing to the broken.

The wilderness was not the end—it was preparation. Likewise, Lent is not just about struggle or sacrifice. It prepares us for mission. As we walk through difficulty and deny ourselves, we become more aligned with the heart of Christ.

Don’t miss this: the same Spirit that led Jesus into the wilderness now empowers us for life and ministry. As we journey toward Easter, let us emerge with renewed purpose—to proclaim Christ’s freedom and favor to a world in need.

Reflection Questions:
1. How has God used your wilderness experiences to shape you?
2. What mission or calling has God placed on your life?
3. In what ways can you live out Isaiah 61 in your community?

Application:
Ask God today for one opportunity to share hope or serve someone with the love of Christ. Step into it boldly.
