Talk About the Bible Story

Jesus Forgives Peter
Matthew 26:31-35, 69-75;
John 21:15-17; Colossians 3:13

Jesus forgives Peter and tells Peter to go and teach others about Jesus.

Prayer

"Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to show us how to forgive others. Please help us to remember to love like You and give others a do-over when they make a mistake. We want to do what Jesus says and love like Him. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name. Amen."

ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS TOGETHER

Morning Time

When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: "Good morning, [child's name]! Show me a big smile if Jesus wants to be your friend forever. I'm smiling! Let me see you smile too!"
 

Drive Time

While on the go, talk about when each of you have been afraid of something. Say: "Peter was afraid when people asked him if he knew Jesus, so he said no. Peter was sad when he did that because he really loved Jesus, but Jesus forgave Peter. Now Jesus says for us to forgive one another."

Cuddle Time

Cuddle with your child and pray: "Dear God, [child's name] and I want to thank You for sending Jesus to show us that we are forgiven. Like Peter, sometimes we make the wrong choice. It's so good to know that we can always talk to Jesus about it, and Jesus still loves us and forgives us."
 

Bath Time

Tell your child to pick some of their favorite toy friends to add to bath time. As your child plays, ask them what they like about each toy. Then say: "You like these toy friends a lot, but guess what! Jesus loves you even MORE, and Jesus wants to be your real friend FOREVER!"
