Talk About the Bible Story

Jesus Feeds 5,000
Matthew 14:14-21; Philippians 2:4

Jesus shows His friends, the disciples, how to love and help others when He feeds over 5,000 people.      

"Think and act as Jesus did."

• What can you do to help others?

Prayer

"Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to show us how to love others. Please show us how to think and act like Jesus so we can help others. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name. Amen."

ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS TOGETHER

Morning Time

When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: "Good morning, [child's name]! I would love to help you get ready for the day and make your breakfast, because helping is one way Jesus shows us how to love others."
 

Drive Time

While on the go, practice counting items in groups of two and then five. (For example, count two trucks and then five houses.) Do this several times. When you're done, talk about how Jesus fed over 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish!

Cuddle Time

Cuddle with your child and pray: "Dear God, thank You for loving [child's name] and me so much that You sent Jesus to help us and be our friend forever. Please help us love people in the same way by helping others."
 

Bath Time

Add two colors of pom-poms and two bowls to bath time. Pretend one color is fish and the other is bread. Tell your child to put the fish in one bowl and the bread in the other. Talk about how Jesus helped the people by giving them fish and bread to eat.
