Talk About the Bible Story

Calming the Storm
Matthew 8:23-27; Mark 4:35-41; Luke 8:22-25

While Jesus and His disciples are in a boat, Jesus tells a big storm to stop, and it does!

"And the power of the Lord was with Jesus."

• What are you afraid of?

Prayer

"Dear God, thank You for hearing us when we pray. Thank You for loving us and always being with us. When we are afraid, help us remember that Jesus loves us and Jesus can do anything. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS TOGETHER

Morning Time

When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: "Good morning, [child's name]! It's time to wake up! Can you get out of bed and get ready for breakfast? Of course, you can! But before you do, can you tell me who can do anything? Jesus can do anything!"
 

Drive Time

While on the go, ask your child to look out of their window and talk about the weather. Is it sunny, rainy, snowy, or cloudy? Talk about how a big storm came while Jesus and His disciples were in a boat. Jesus told the storm to stop, and it did! Wow! Jesus can do anything!

Cuddle Time

Cuddle with your child and pray: "Dear God, thank You for sunny days, rainy days, snowy days, and cloudy days. We can even thank You for the stormy days because we know Jesus is with us during the storms."
 

Bath Time

Add a toy boat to bath time. Show your child how to make waves with their hands. Talk about how Jesus and His disciples were in a boat when a big storm came. The waves rocked the boat and the disciples were afraid. Then Jesus did something only He can do. Jesus told the storm to stop, and it did!
