JANUARY 2025
WEEK ONE

Preschool

Jesus is always a good friend.

Talk About the Bible Story

Peter Walks on Water
Matthew 14:22-33

Jesus helps Peter when Peter is afraid and begins to sink in the water.

MEMORY VERSE

"A friend loves you all the time."

Proverbs 17:17, NCV

Engagement Questions

  • Who is always a good friend?
  • What makes you feel afraid?

Prayer

"Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to be our friend forever. Thank You that Jesus is a good friend when we are afraid. Help us remember that Jesus loves us all the time. You’re the best, God! In Jesus’ name. Amen."

ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS TOGETHER

Morning Time

When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: "Good morning, [child's name]! How are you feeling today? (Pause.) Happy, sad, afraid, excited? No matter how you feel, Jesus is always a good friend."

Drive Time

While on the go, take turns naming a few things that make you feel afraid. (Yes, grown-ups feel afraid sometimes too!) Talk about how Jesus was a good friend to Peter when Peter was afraid of the wind and Jesus will be a good friend to us too.

Cuddle Time

Cuddle with your child and pray: "Dear God, thank You that Jesus is always a good friend and that we can talk to Him whenever we feel afraid."

Bath Time

Add a toy boat and some toy people to bath time. As your child plays, talk about how Jesus was a good friend and helped Peter when Peter felt afraid.
