WEEK THREE

Preschool

Jesus is God's Son.

Talk About the Bible Story

The Shepherds
Luke 2:8-20

Shepherds run to see Jesus after an angel tells them that God's Son, Jesus, has been born.

MEMORY VERSE

"God has given a son to us."

Isaiah 9:6, NCV

Engagement Questions

  • Why is Jesus special?
  • Who can you tell about Jesus?

Prayer

"Dear God, we know You love us because You gave us Your Son, Jesus. Help us tell others that Jesus is God’s Son. We want everyone to know that You love us so much that You gave us Your Son, Jesus. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name. Amen."

ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS TOGETHER

Morning Time

When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: "Good morning, [child's name]! We're getting closer and closer to Christmas day! Christmas is all about celebrating how special Jesus is. Do you remember why Jesus is special? Yes! Jesus is God's Son!"

Drive Time

While on the go, look for animals. Talk about how shepherds take care of sheep. God sent an angel to shepherds to tell them Jesus had been born. The shepherds were so excited, they ran to see baby Jesus!

Cuddle Time

Cuddle with your child and pray: "Dear God, help [child's name] and me get so excited about Your Son, Jesus, that we tell everyone about Him, like the shepherds did. We want everyone to know that You gave us Jesus!"

Bath Time

Add pom-poms to bath time. Tell your child to pretend they are the shepherd and the pom-poms are sheep. As your child plays, talk about how God sent an angel to tell shepherds that His Son, Jesus, had been born.
