This week: "Moses' brother, Aaron, and friend, Hur, help Moses hold up God's staff. Exodus 17:8-13
Insight: DESIGN
Discipleship Kit:
- Parent Guide – Use this parent guide to help you walk through discipling your preschooler this week
- Story Video – Each week there will be a new Story Video to watch (from Orange Media)
- Memory Verse Video – Your preschooler will learn this month’s memory verse along with hand signals
Activities:
- Home Connection
- NEED: Activity Pages, scissors; glue sticks; wooden coffee stirrers; crayons; and a permanent marker; Optional popsicle sticks instead of coffee stirrers
- DO: Encourage children to color their paper then glue the coffee stirrer to the staff in Moses’ hands. Have children rub glue on the tab and help them glue the tab to the back of the other edge to make the table tent.
- SAY: “Today, in our Bible story, we heard how God gave Moses family and friends to help him. God gives us friends and family to help us, too. Let’s make a table topper of Moses with the people who helped him. Look, there’s Moses with his arms holding up the staff. And Aaron and Hur are helping him. Use the crayons to color your paper. (Pause.) Great! Look at this. (Hold up a coffee stirrer/popsicle sticks.) It looks like Moses’ staff. Glue it to your picture. (Pause.) See this tab? (Point to the tab.) Rub some glue along that tab. (Pause.) Fold up your paper like this. (Demonstrate.) Now tuck the tab behind the edge and press to seal. (Pause.) You have a standing craft of our Bible story today. Moses was the leader of God’s people, the Israelites. One day, some people who didn’t love God came to attack them. Moses knew God would help them, so he held up God’s staff and the Israelites started winning! But his arms got tired, and he put them down. Then God’s army started losing. Moses put his arms back up and couldn’t put them down. They were getting really tired. He needed help. Moses’ brother Aaron and their friend, Hur, came to help. They brought a rock for Moses to sit on and helped hold up his arms. And the Israelites won! God gave Aaron and Hur to Moses to help him. God gives each of us family, too, and we can take good care of each other. We can look at our friends and family and say, ‘God is good!’ Who is good? [Bottom Line] God is good.”
- DRIVE TIME

Find your picture of Elijah like this. Elijah was hungry and needed food. Glue Elijah in the first place on your story page. God told Elijah to go to a woman for food, but the woman and her son didn’t have enough food. (Hold up the widow and son.) Find your picture of the woman and her son like this. Elijah told the woman, ‘Don’t be afraid. Go home and make bread to eat but make bread for me first. God said that your jar of flour and jug of oil will not run out.’ Glue the woman and her son beside Elijah on your story page. The woman did what Elijah said. She took her flour and oil and made bread for Elijah. (Hold up the jar and jug picture.) Find your jar and jug picture like this. And just like God said, the jar of flour and jug of oil did not run out. Every day, there was enough food for Elijah, the woman, and her son (Hold up the Elijah, widow, son, and bread picture.), because God gave them the food they needed. Find your picture of Elijah, the woman, and her son with bread, like this. Now you can glue it in the last space on your story page. Look! You have all the story pictures on your story page. - SAY: “What an amazing story we learned today about trusting God's plans, even when they are hard. Joseph trusted God's plan when they were hard. Let's make a game to help us remember Joseph's journey. This is Joseph. You can move him as he goes on each part of his journey. On our paper is a map of Egypt. It shows the different parts of Joseph's journey. Let's start by going to Joseph's family house with his dad. (Point to the image.) Great! Next, here's Joseph's older brothers! (Point to the image.) They're working in the field. (Pause.) His older brothers were mad and jealous that their dad had given Joseph such a nice coat. So they threw him in a hole. (Point to the image.) Then his brothers sent him far, far away. (Point to the image.) They sent him far away, and he worked for a man named Potiphar. This is Potiphar's house. When Joseph worked for Potiphar, he worked hard and did a good job. But someone said he did something bad that he didn't do and was put in jail. (Point to the image.) Fid the jail. There's one more picture. It's Pharaoh's palace. (Point to the image.) Find the palace. We'll hear more about that part of Joseph's journey next week. God has plans for each of us. We learned today that Joseph's journey was not always an easy one, but Joesph continued to trust God and follow God's plans for him. Remember that just liek Joseph, even when it is hard, God loves you and has plans for you. Who has plans for you? [Bottom Line] God has plans for me."

“Today in our Bible story, we learned that God loves us no matter what. That’s right! God loves us when we’re happy, sad, or afraid, just like God loved Moses when he was frustrated. Moses was the leader of the Israelites, God’s people. Moses tried to do what was best for the people, but they kept complaining. First, they were hungry, so God sent bread that rained down from heaven. Then they were thirsty, so God made water come out of a rock. But they still weren’t happy. They wanted more food, different food, and they wished they were back home. This made Moses frustrated. So Moses talked to God and told him he was frustrated. God listened and sent people to help Moses take care of everyone. God loved Moses, even when he was frustrated. God loves us no matter what. Who loves you no matter what?
