WOVEN

Woven is a ministry of the Heights that seeks to raise awareness about adoption and foster care, equip church members to care for and support adoptive and foster care families in The Heights, and to provide support groups for those throughout our community who are involved in this area of ministry.

CAR CARE

The Height’s Car Care Ministry is designed to provide basic automotive maintenance services at no cost and on a regular basis to our widows, single moms, and single women at The Heights. This is a true “justice” ministry, as those, who are knowledgeable in car maintenance, can help those who need assistance and are vulnerable. Skilled and Apprentice Mechanics are needed. CIRCLE OF FRIENDS

Circle of Friends is a weekly fellowship for adults with cognitive disabilities. It meets on the first three Tuesdays of each month throughout the school year. They provide fun activities and events throughout the year that allow the participants to engage in new opportunities. Examples include: gym night, prom night, karaoke night, etc. Volunteers are needed to invest in these participants and their caregivers.

Mosaic, a system of group homes in our area, welcomes volunteers to serve through their vocational centers and through the care of the group homes and residence. There are always maintenance items that need attention and the residents enjoy receiving letters and visits.

CORNERSTONE – HOMELESS MEALS

Cornerstone currently feeds 200 homeless men and women three times a week. The Heights sponsors every third Thursday of the month, but volunteers are needed for all of the following serving times:

  • Tuesdays, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
  • Thursdays, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
  • Sundays, 5:00 am – 7:30 am

CORNERSTONE – WOMEN’S MINISTRY

Every Thursday morning, women in the South Dallas area, gather together to study the living and active Word of God and to share breakfast together. Come be a part of the study by welcoming, providing breakfast and encouraging women.

HOSPITAL / NURSING HOME CARE

People are very vulnerable during the illness or death of a loved one. There are many real ministry opportunities that are available to people during this time.

Volunteer Chaplain Program: Volunteer to provide spiritual comfort, prayer and encouragement during difficult times.

General Volunteer: Many hospitals/nursing homes/VA hospitals rely upon numerous volunteers to help care for the many needs of their patients.

THE WAY

The Way is a ministry partner of The Heights that exists to share the revolutionary love of Christ with women involved in the adult nightclub industry. Their goal is to awaken hope and empower change as they minister to these women and connect them to community and spiritual resources. Every month, a group gathers at The Heights. Some go into the clubs, some pray for these women, and those who are actively building relationships in order to share the gospel. Would you consider being a part of sharing hope with them?

PRISON MINISTRY

Assist the Church by equipping and igniting Christians to share their faith in Jesus Christ with the “least of these” – the incarcerated. Prison Ministry Teammates are invited onto the prison yard to share the gospel with the incarcerated.

PRAYER SHAWL

The Prayer Shawl team is made up of a committed group of women who knit “shawls” for those who are undergoing various illnesses and life struggles. This ministry began in 2005. Over the years, the “knitters” have given over 4,000 prayer shawls to people in need. These include baby blankets, blankets for children, shawls for women and lap throws for men. There is always a need for another “knitter” on the team.

REFUGEE MINISTRY

Our community is leading the nation in welcoming and helping refugees to resettle here in the metroplex. This ministry, in partnership with E3, is helping to make that transition easier. Be a part of welcoming, encouraging, befriending and sharing the gospel with the nations who are moving right next door!

TEXAS BAPTIST MEN

The mission of the Texas Baptist Men is to assist Texas Baptist Churches as they lead men into a relationship with Jesus Christ that will thrust them and their families into a lifestyle of missions and ministry that fulfills the Great Commission. Both men and women serve in the more than 17 ministries that TBM offers, Including disaster relief, builders, medical/dental, agricultural, and water purification.  There are opportunities to serve locally, nationally, and internationally – for both skilled and unskilled volunteers. You might find yourself preparing food for the homeless in Dallas in a TBM mobile kitchen unit, ‘mudding-out’ homes in New Jersey following a hurricane, or building water filtration systems at an orphanage in Honduras. Being salt and light doesn’t necessarily require ‘volunteering’, either. The TBM outdoor ministry provides an opportunity for Christian men and women to network together for fellowship, and to share the message of Christ with individuals that do not have a personal relationship with Him.

QUILTED BLESSINGS

Quilted Blessings Ministry is made up of a group of faithful Heights women who quilt blankets for those in need. This ministry began in 2014 because these women felt called to combine their love for quilting and their passion for serving others. So far, approximately 800 quilts have been made and given to those in need through various ministries around the world.
