Scripture Passage: Matthew 28:16-20 & Acts 1:8
Devotional Thought:
The call to go reflects the heart of Jesus’ mission. In Matthew 28, Jesus commissions His followers: go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing and teaching them to obey everything He commanded. This isn’t optional—it’s the defining purpose of every believer.
Jesus begins with authority: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” And He ends with a promise: “I am with you always, to the end of the age.” When we go, we don’t go alone. We go empowered by Him.
Acts 1:8 expands this mission with clarity and power. Jesus tells His disciples they’ll receive the Holy Spirit, enabling them to be His witnesses everywhere—beginning locally and extending globally. Going doesn’t only mean crossing geographical borders. It means living missionally every day—in our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and relationships. It’s showing Christ’s love to those who haven’t yet heard or seen the gospel lived out.
This week, you’ve practiced spiritual disciplines that prepare you to go. You’ve received grace. You’ve gathered with others. You’ve grown through fasting and dependence on God. You’ve been challenged to give. Now, you go—carrying everything God has been teaching you into the world around you.
Going requires intentionality: stepping toward people with compassion, sharing God’s truth with humility, representing Jesus in word and deed. This mission flows not from duty but from love—from a God who first loved us and sent His Son. Going becomes both our calling and our joy as we participate in God’s work of reconciliation and hope.
Wednesday’s fast wasn’t just about you and God. It was also about the people God is sending you to. When we fast, we’re reminded that we’re dependent on God—and that reminds us that the people around us need Him too. They’re hungry for hope, starving for truth, desperate for love. You’ve tasted and seen that the Lord is good. Now go and invite others to the table.
Reflection Questions:
1. Who in your everyday life might God be inviting you to go to with His love?
2. What fears or barriers keep you from sharing your faith more openly?
3. How has this week’s journey through grace, gathering, growing, giving, and fasting prepared you to go on mission?
Application: Choose one person this week to intentionally go to—pray for them, listen to their story, and share the hope you have in Christ. Let this week’s spiritual practices fuel your courage and compassion as you go.
