Jan 16: Sent Together

Scripture: Acts 2:42-47 ; Hebrews 10:23-25

Devotional Thought:

The early church was magnetic. People watched how they loved each other, cared for those in need, and lived with glad and sincere hearts—and they wanted in. ‘The Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.’ Their community life was itself an evangelistic witness.

Living sent is not a solo mission. Jesus sent the disciples out in pairs. Paul always traveled with a team. The early church gathered daily. There’s something about the Body of Christ functioning together that demonstrates the reality of the gospel in ways an individual never could.

The writer of Hebrews urges us not to abandon gathering together—but notice why: so we can ‘spur one another on toward love and good deeds.’ We gather not just for our own encouragement, but to be equipped and sent back out. Sunday fuels Monday. Worship propels mission.

As this devotional series ends, remember: you are not alone in this. You’re part of a sent community. We need each other—for accountability, encouragement, prayer, and partnership. The watching world needs to see not just individual Christians, but a community of Christ-followers whose life together reflects the love of Jesus.

Reflection Questions:

1. Who in your life spurs you on toward love and good deeds? How can you be more intentional about those relationships?

2. How can your Group or your circle of Christian friends partner together in mission to your shared community?

Application:

Reach out to one other person from Heights and make a plan to do something together this week that is outward-focused: serve a neighbor, invite a coworker to coffee, or prayer-walk your street together. Living sent is better together.
