Devotional Thought:
The disciples were hiding. Doors locked. Hearts gripped by fear. Everything they had hoped for seemed to have died on a Roman cross just days before. And then Jesus appeared—not with rebuke, but with peace. Twice he spoke those words: ‘Peace be with you.’
‘As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’ In one breath, Jesus connects their mission to his own. The same intentionality, the same love, the same purpose that drove Jesus from heaven to earth now propels his followers into the world.
This is the heartbeat of living sent: we don’t go in our own strength or with our own agenda. We go as Jesus went—empowered by the Spirit, carrying the ministry of reconciliation, bringing peace to people still hiding behind locked doors of fear, doubt, and despair.
As you come out of Breakthrough, consider this: Jesus is not asking you to do something he hasn’t already done. He modeled the sent life perfectly. Now he breathes his Spirit into you and says, ‘Your turn. Go.’
Reflection Questions:
1. What ‘locked doors’ (fears, insecurities, past failures) might be keeping you from fully embracing your sent identity?
2. How does knowing Jesus sends you the same way the Father sent him change how you view your everyday interactions?
Application:
Identify one person in your life who doesn’t know Jesus. Commit to praying for them by name every day this week. Ask God to open a door for you to share his peace with them.
