DECEMBER 9 // Tuesday: When God Interrupts Our Plans

Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-12 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.”

Reflection: Joseph had made his decision—a reasonable, merciful plan under the circumstances. Then God interrupted. Sometimes God waits until we’ve exhausted our own solutions before He reveals His better way. Joseph’s willingness to receive this midnight message and completely change course demonstrates spiritual flexibility. He didn’t cling to his plan or dismiss the dream as wishful thinking. When God speaks, even when it contradicts our careful planning, the wisest response is obedience. God’s interruptions are invitations to something greater.

Reflection Question: Has God ever interrupted your carefully laid plans? Looking back, how did His redirection prove better than your original path?

Application Step: Surrender a plan or expectation you’re holding tightly to God today. Pray: “Lord, if You have a different plan, I’m willing to follow.”
