Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6; James 1:2-8 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.”
Reflection: Joseph’s story is remarkable partly because of what isn’t said. We have no recorded words from Joseph in Scripture—only his actions of obedience. He didn’t argue with the angel, didn’t demand more proof, didn’t need to understand every detail of God’s plan. He simply obeyed. Sometimes the most powerful witness is quiet, steady obedience that speaks louder than words. Joseph reminds us that faith isn’t measured by how eloquently we speak about God but by how consistently we follow Him.
Reflection Question: Are you someone who needs to fully understand God’s plan before you obey, or can you trust Him even in the unknown?
Application Step: Practice “quiet obedience” today by doing something God has asked of you without announcing it, explaining it, or seeking recognition for it.
