Scripture:
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Devotional Thought:
Paul gives us the widest possible lens on what it means that the kingdom has arrived in Jesus. He is the image of the invisible God. All things were created through him and for him. He holds all things together. He has supremacy in everything. And he is the one into whose kingdom you have been brought.
Notice the rescue language in verse 13: he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. This is not an application or aspiration. It is a completed action. Past tense. You have already been transferred. The kingdom you belong to is not something you are working toward — it is the reality you are already living in.
This matters enormously for how you face the week ahead. Whatever darkness you encounter — in the world, in yourself, in your circumstances — you are meeting it as someone who has already been brought into a different kingdom. Its power over you is broken. The dominion has changed. You belong to the King who holds all things together.
And the scope of his reconciliation is staggering. Not just your soul. Not just your personal sins. All things — things in heaven and on earth — are being reconciled through the blood of the cross. The kingdom that arrived in Jesus is not a private religious experience. It is the reordering of the entire cosmos. And you are part of it.

Application:
Write Colossians 1:13 as a personal declaration: He has rescued me from the dominion of darkness and brought me into the kingdom of the Son he loves. Carry it with you today. Every time something tries to pull you back toward fear or shame, read it again.
