March 2: Longing for Forgiveness Begins with Honesty

Scripture:
Psalm 32:1–11

Devotional Thought:
Forgiveness always begins with truth. Psalm 32 reminds us that hiding sin doesn’t heal us—it weighs us down. David describes the physical and spiritual toll of unconfessed guilt, not to shame us, but to show us what honesty opens the door to. Silence keeps us stuck. Confession brings relief.

What’s striking is how quickly the tone shifts once David stops hiding. The moment sin is acknowledged, forgiveness rushes in. God is not hesitant or stingy with mercy. He is waiting—ready to forgive, ready to restore, ready to lead us forward again.

If you’re longing for forgiveness, the first step isn’t self-punishment or trying harder. It’s telling the truth before God. Freedom doesn’t come from managing your image; it comes from surrendering your heart.

Reflection:
1. Where are you tempted to hide instead of confess?
2. What do you fear might happen if you’re fully honest with God?

Application
Take time today to name—out loud or in writing—what you need forgiveness for, and bring it to God without excuses.
