Opportunities for serving abound at The Heights.

In the Worship Area

Baptism Ministry - Assists baptism candidates with baptism procedures and dressing area needs during Sunday morning baptisms. ()

Encourager Ministry - Helps people in our Discovery Room during the time of invitation with the decisions God is leading them to make, prayer requests on their hearts or questions they might have concerning The Heights. ()

Celebration Orchestra - Celebrating worship through instrumental talent, the orchestra leads in our 9:15 worship service. ()

The Lighthouse Church (Iglesia El Faro) - Provides worship services for the Spanish speaking community on Sunday mornings, as well as Bible studies and children’s activities for all ages during the week. ()

Infant/Toddler Music – Tiny Tots ‘N Tunes, similar to Gymboree or Kindermusik, is an interactive program of music, movement, instruments, prayer and worship specifically for birth - age 3 and their parents (or grandparents!). Ages: birth - 17 mos., and 18 mos. - 3 yrs. ()

Fine Arts Institute - Provides quality art education and prepares students for service, ministry and personal enjoyment through individual development of the arts in a positive Christian environment. ()

Media and Communications - Optimizes worship through technical and production aspects of the service. ()

Praise Team/Soloist Ministry – Anchors the choir, and leads in the 9:15 service worship and special events. ()

Worship Choir – Leads worship through vocal praise in our 9:15 worship service. ()

Singing Saints – Allows senior adults to enjoy weekly opportunities for fun, fellowship, travel, music and ministry to others in our community. ()

Worship Quest – An interactive program that trains children from Age 3 & 4 (Joyland Choirs) through grade 6 to worship God through song. Volunteer opportunities available as leaders, helpers, providing refreshments, assisting with costumes, sets and more. ()

Sermon CD Ministry – Provides audio and video recordings of sermons and special worship events to reach as many people as possible. (

In the Grow Area

Preschool - JOYLAND is the teaching ministry provided on Sunday mornings for our children, ages birth through pre-kindergarten years, during the Adult Bible Fellowship and Worship times. ()

Child Care Ministry - Provides child care for ages birth - 6th grade for Sunday evening activities, designated Wednesday evening activities, MOPS, Women's Bible Study and all church-wide events. Parent's Night Out is also a part of this ministry. ()

MOPs - Mothers of Preschoolers is a ministry to mothers of young children which meets during the school year. ()

Child Development Center - This weekday ministry of our church incorporates a Mother's Day Out program for younger children and a Preschool program for children ages three through Kindergarten throughout the school year. ()

Children - KDOG Club – Intentionally equipping “Kids to Depend On God” in their daily lives, whether it’s discovering what it means to know Him as their Savior or the Boss of their lives. We do this through strategic programming from KDOG Club on Sunday mornings, to opportunities such as Bible Drill, summer camps, VBS, leadership teams, and more. Volunteer opportunities to serve are available in the large group leadership team as a small group coordinator, greeter, camp counselor and more. ()

Students - Grounded Groups (Student Bible Study) - Grounded Groups for Junior High meet at 9:15 and 10:50am on Sunday mornings. Grounded Groups for High School (which meet in various homes throughout the area) are Tuesday nights and Wednesday nights at 7:00pm ()

Switch - This uplifting Wednesday evening worship experience for Jr. High students begins at 7:00pm and includes praise and worship led by David Frush and the Praise Band, and a Biblical message from the Student Minister, as well as games, skits, and funny videos. Switch offers a time to invite our community to informal worship. (

1st Wednesday - is a time of fellowship for all students at 7:00pm. ()

Awaken - is at 9:15am on Sunday mornings, and is a time of worship and praise for High School Students. ()

Student Praise Band - This group includes high school students who love to worship God through their instruments and voices. ()

Student Mission Trip – Offers hands-on opportunities for students to share the love of Christ in our city, state, country and overseas. Our Student Ministry serves at Park Plaza throughout the summer, as well as taking trips around the US and England to minister and spread the Gospel. ()

Adult Bible Fellowship (ABF) - Provides opportunities for all age groups to grow in Bible study, develop authentic relationships through fellowship together, and share Christ through service to our community. All age groups have fellowship and community ministry activities.

Circle of Friends - Circle of Friends Ministry is for adults with special needs (18 or older). Their ABF meets during the 9:15 hour on Sundays, and the first, second, and third Tuesdays of each month from 7-8:30 for Christian entertainment, food, fun, and fellowship. ()

Fifty Plus - Monthly lunch and dinner meetings promote growth and fellowship opportunities among median and senior adults. ()

Power Hour – Our Power Hour is an open men’s group that meets on Fridays at 6:30 a.m. for Bible study and prayer. ()

Other Serve Opportunities

PLACE Ministry – Assists people in evaluating their passions, personality and spiritual gifts, and helps them discern where God wants them to serve. ()

Bereavement Ministry - Provides assistance to church families at a time of bereavement, particularly in the presentation of a meal before or after the funeral service. ()

CART (Computer Aided Real-Time Translation) Ministry - Provides real-time closed captioning of our worship services for the hearing impaired. ()

DivorceCare Seminars - Offers 12-week workshop seminars to support men, women, and children dealing with issues arising from separation and divorce. (

First Impressions Ministry - Greeters – Welcome all who enter our facility with an atmosphere of warmness, as well as distributing information, answering questions, and giving directions. ()

Ushers – Provide a positive atmosphere by assisting our guests and congregation with seating, questions and collection of the offering. (Trent Blackley/Butch Craig)

Parking Lot Associates – Parking lot associates assist our guests, handicapped and senior citizens park their vehicles, and greet them with a warm welcome. ()

Shuttle Bus Drivers – Shuttle bus drivers operate the shuttle bus for special ministry events throughout the week. ()

Homebound Ministry – Provides regular home visits, The Lord’s Supper, and prayer support to those who are physically unable to attend our church. ()

Jobseekers Ministry—Serves as a resource and training ministry for those who are seeking new or different employment. ()

Library Ministry—Serves as a tremendous resource center for Christian education. (Gaye Ratcliff/)

Medical Emergency Team Ministry - Certified healthcare professionals who assist with medical emergencies during services and events. ()

Men’s Ministries - Offers unique opportunities for men to gather for worship, Bible study, fellowship and service through various projects and events throughout the year. ()

Office Volunteer Ministry - Assists the ministers and support staff with various office duties and special projects. ()

Prayer Room Ministry – Provides opportunities for prayer where people commit to pray one hour per week, each week, in the prayer room, prayer garden or from home. ()

Women’s Ministry – Provides Bible Studies on Tuesday mornings, Wednesday nights and Thursday nights. Discipleship and small groups meet on Tuesday nights. Events for fellowship and outreach include Evening of Grace, Countdown to Christmas and a spring retreat or fellowship opportunity. Other ministries include Compassionate Hearts, Prayer Shawl Ministry and Widow’s Ministry. ()

Widows’ Ministry - Encourages and assists our widows, single mothers, and elderly in all areas of their life. ()

Prayer Shawl Ministry - provides comfort and support by crocheting or knitting shawls and giving them to those in need. ()
