June 3, 2010 - Update

Hello Everyone,
What a semester!!!  God is really doing some neat things in Ukraine.

Trese's help this semester was invaluable.  She hosted a "Jesus cares for Women" group at our house. Kelly hosted and Trese led the group.  It went really well with girls coming each week and hearing the gospel presented in various ways. 

Dave, Myself and Trese also partnered with Campus Crusade in an English club on Wednesdays.  It was very good.  We shared the gospel each time and had people consistently come back.  We were the English speakers and Campus recruited the people and we worked together to teach English and then discuss a story from the life of Jesus.  We want to duplicate this using 2-4 students from America over the next few years.  God continues to give us a good relationship with the university of 40,000 students as well as the administration.

Our car was successfully sent back to America.  Due to the changes in Ukrainian Law the car would not have worked.  We are already working on a vehicle to use here that would have enough places for us and the new baby!!!(Kelly is doing great and the baby is due in September.)

Hannah's last day of 1st grade is on the 28th.  It is just amazing that a year ago we were so nervous and scared about puttine her in the schools but now the Lord has calmed those fears with Hannah just loving school. 

Joshua goes to kindergarden also and has some good stories from time to time.  Friday there was a Scarlet fever scare!!!  Thank the Lord, all our health has been excellent!

Caleb is getting big and will be in the same Kindergarden as Joshua, two days a week next year!!!!
We are headed back to the States on June 16th.  Please pray for this last three weeks. We are having a picnic tomorrow with people who were in Navigators a few years ago.  We are hoping to hear from them how God is leading them now after some time.  

I, Tyler would like to travel this summer in the states to see some of Navigators Summer Training Programs in order to find people interested in coming to Ukraine for year to help us and basically be discipled for a year in a foreign culture.  Please be praying for God to lead us as we connect with American students who might be interested in partnering with us.

FUNDING
We will be needing to raise some one-time support this summer.  I have been asked to travel to Bishkek, Kyrgystan this fall to meet with the international Navigator teams there.  There are some other projects that we will be working on that will need support as well.  I will write again with the details.  THANK YOU so much to all of you who support us faithfully each month.  We have been here 5 years in November!!!!  Wow,  God is faithful!!!!

Tyler, Kelly, Hannah, Joshua and Caleb Sanderford

Hi Everyone, (This includes important family updates and Ministry updates)

What a month!!!  Education conference in Budapest, Hungary, Spring is starting to show, Kelly being pregnant,  our apartment..... wait... what???  YEP  Kelly is 14 weeks along!!!

We are having our fourth child in September!!!  We are so thankful for this gift and are looking forward to another Sanderford in our home!!! check our facebook if you want to see Caleb announcing it!!! We will be heading back for the birth sometime in July-August.  

We would like to remind you of our friends Igor and Oksana.  This is the couple that we have been interacting with for the past two years.  They are married.  God continues to give us opportunities to minister to them.  Just this week, Igor called and asked for my help.  He had run out of gas in his car.  I was able to go pick him up and help tow his car with our CR-V.  Igor and Oksana both have heard the truth numerous times.  They know there is something out there but refuse at this point to step into Faith!!!  We think sometimes that we are wasting our time with them.  But then God reminds us that HE has us with them "for such a time as this".  He continues to show Igor and Oksana what real LOVE is.  And He is using us.  Even when we "implore them to be reconciled to God.. 2 Cor 5:20"  and they don't listen, God steps in and uses us to help with a gas problem to show them Grace and Love.  PLEASE pray that the Lord would continue to open their eyes to Himself and Truth. 

Speaking of our CR-V..  it has become clear that we need to return our car to the states this year.  When we first brought it over the situation in Ukraine was different.  It has become impossible to keep the car here legally and remain above reproach. So we are sending it back to America and have started looking for a van type of vehicle to carry us plus the NEW Sanderford here in Kyiv.  Pray for us and for finding a new vehicle to transport us.

We are currently working with and partnering with Campus Crusade, Inter-varsity, Family Life (part of crusade),  the local Assemblies of God churches, international churches, with Orthodox believers as well as student believers.  The Lord has brought together many different groups with whom we are partnering.  We have one English club with Crusade right now on Wednesday evenings where we (Dave, Trese and Myself) are the speakers and the topic is connected with the Bible.  So almost every time the Good News of Reconciliation is told!!!  Please pray for these students who hear!!!  Andre was one guys who came last week and told us he is part of a Seventh Day adventist church here.  He seems to believe in Christ but could use some of what we as "Navigators" hold to be very important. Namely, one on one/ life on life discipleship.  PLEASE pray for these meetings and for the much needed follow-up of these young learners.  

We just returned from a wonderful trip to Budapest, Hungary for the annual Education conference for American kids living abroad.  It is an amazing time of rubbing shoulders with other parents who are in the same boat as us trying to educate our kids in an non-english, non- american setting.  They have everything from testing for hearing problems or academic testing from 1-12th grade!!!   While the conference was for any organization and not just Navigators, we lived with one Nav family who are serving in the top Business University in Hungary.  We were able to encourage them as well as be refreshed by them. Thank you Mark and Laura for your hospitality.  >>>> Hannah was given 52 pages of homework to do while on break.  She did not complete it all but when we returned to school last week the teacher told us that it was for the month of march until Easter.  Soooo Hannah is two weeks ahead of all the other kids in her class!!! She is very happy about that!!!!:')

Just wanted to drop you a note and let you know how things are going. Kelly and I are meeting students each week now AS WELL AS former students with whom we already have connections.  We as a team are memorizing and thinking through Col 1:19-23.  We have been focused on our the concept of "Reconciliation" in Christ.  

Hannah is doing just great in school and in fact her former tutor as well as her current tutor have praised her for doing so well in Ukrainian.  We are very proud of her.  She has also been enjoying her Ballet class on Wed and Fridays.  

Joshua is now meeting with a tutor for just some language practice and 'games'.  We are praying this will help him connect better at his little school.  

Caleb is home still most of the time. But occasionally he and Daddy go run an errand outside of the house and grab a sweet snack!!:')  He is doing fabulous with the 'potty train' and been dry every morning for the last week!!  Praise the Lord!!

Kelly has a Tuesday night group of about 5-6 Ukrainians using a system called "Glad you asked".  It is a video with questions that spur "spiritual" conversations.  Please pray for the message of Reconciliation to be clearing spoken and ACCEPTED!!!

We could not be more please with the direction we are headed right now.  The Lord is using each one of us as a "light" in our spheres of influence.  Please continue to pray for those people we have friendships with that are not yet believing.  

We as a family are heading to Hungary next week for the SHARE education conference.  It is a time of rest and Pizza Hut!!  But most of all for the kids.  It is like a week of VBS but on Steroids.  Thank YOU for giving us the funds to go on a trip like this.  It is much needed.  

On a funding note,  Our regional director, during our last Navigator conference here in Kyiv, assigned me the task of talking to each missionary and seeing how fundraising is going.  I was honored to be able to do this and encourage each person. Your faithful giving has blessed not just the lost of Ukraine but believers all over the world through these missionary leaders.

Hey Friends and family!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you guys!!!  We are back in action, now that the 3 and a half week quarantine is over!!!  Hannah had her birthday with piñata and friends.  She is back in school and has picked right back up after this long break with her Ukrainian.  

On these special days of Thanksgiving to God,  We just wanted to say "Thank YOU" so much for your prayers and support of The Sanderford Family.  I can remember writing the first email almost 6 years ago when we were raising support.  Thank you.  Thank you for believing God for big things.  Please continue to pray for the Ukrainians and for us.  There is so much corruption at almost every level it can sometimes seem futile to even try to live in way that honors God in this place.  My Ukrainian friends are "Used to it" but it even gets to them sometimes too.  

Please pray for our friends Igor and Oksana.  Igor has been sick for a few weeks now with "flu like" symptoms.  He was in the hospital and now is back home and still feeling miserable.  Please pray for his health to return and for somehow this to bring him to the feet of the Lord Jesus.  

Also we will be going to western Ukraine in December with two Ukrainian couples to relax and spend time talking about the Calling of God on the lives of believers, the Calling of Navigators and the calling on each person individually. Our newest team members (Trese and Krystal) will be with us too.   

We as a team have just completed reading "Pursuit of Holiness".  What a great reminder of the reasons for and motivation behind our active pursuit of a life of holiness.  We highly recommend the book.
