There is always a first time for everything!

Pease Family Firsts:
Eating a fried caterpillar
Plucking the feathers off the chicken that was for dinner
Living in a mud hut for 4 days
Harvesting sunflowers and beating the seeds out of each flower
Sharing Christ with a witch doctor (no decision was made)
Riding in an ox driven cart
Walking 45 minutes just to get to church
Getting water from a well

We have just returned from Zambia where we spent 12 days in an urban setting, 12 days in a rural setting and 4 days living with a Zambian family in a village. It was an incredible time of the Lord growing us and teaching us about African culture. We were definitely out of our comfort zone. It is always good to allow the Lord to stretch us.

Here is one thing we would like to share with you:

This passage in Deuteronomy 30: 11- 20 was shared to us by one of our IMB leaders. We encourage you to read it all, here are a few verses from that passage:

"(11)Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach... (16)The Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to posses... 19 Now choose life, so that you and your children may live (20) and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life..."

The Lord has given us each a land to go in and possess. Wether it is a place of work, a church, a neighborhood, family, or the islands on Lake Victoria in Uganda. We are learning that no task is beyond our reach. We pray that we will allow the Lord to lead each of us, and that we will follow.

Prayer Concerns:
Pray that the Lord will continue to open our ears and mouths as we strive to learn the Luganda language.
Pray for Krisann to find the balance between homeschooling, language, and everyday tasks.
Pray for safe travel as we drive about 13 hours to Kenya June 6 - 13th for a regional meeting.
Pray for Christians around the world to rise up and to be bold in their faith.
Pray for Mary, the witch doctor, to know the truth.
Pray for the International Mission Board leaders to have wisdom as they lead over 5,000 missionaries around the world.

Thank you for all your love and prayers! May the Lord lead you to live a radical life for HIm!

Please continue to let us know how we can be praying for you!

In His Grace,
Krisann and Eric Pease

Abba Home is an orphanage here in Entebbe where 27 children live. Their ages range from 4 to 14 each with their own story. Some have no parents and some have parents that can't afford to keep them. Today we were blessed to be able to serve them dinner, and just hang out and play. Usually their meals consist of posha (kind of like cornmeal) or rice and beans. Today would be a feast with beef, fish and rice and a wonderful peanut sauce. After we ate we attempted to teach them how to play kick ball. It ended with the boys playing football(aka soccer) and the girls playing jump rope and/or chasing Emily and I around. As we left each of them with some Easter treats they shook our hands and thanked us and said,"May God bless you." Their grateful hearts have so much to teach us. May the Lord bless each precious child at Abba Home.

Azuukidde! He Has Risen!

Monday, April 13, 2009
Today we had the privilege to love on babies and toddlers at another orphanage in Kampala (about 45 min. from Entebbe). They were hungry to be held and loved on. I left not wanting to leave. Pray for these children to know that our Lord is a Father to the fatherless. I love this promise from the Lord...John 14:18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."

Tomorrow we go to Kalangala Island to have a time of fellowship with the body of believers there. We will tell a Bible story to the children and then do a craft with them.(Thank you Garrison Family for your help!) We leave Wednesday for Zambia where we will be in training for 30 days. We will spend 12 days in an urban setting, 12 days in a rural setting, 3 days with a national family, and then 3 days debriefing. It is an intense and rewarding time of training.

  • Please pray for safety as we travel and that we will be open to what the Lord wants to teach us.
  • Please pray for Abba Home and the Sanyu Baby Home to continue to be a safe place for children to grow-up.
  • Please pray for us to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
  • Please continue to pray for Michael and Zaituni to long to know the Lord.
  • We praise the Lord for Larry and Amanda Mauldin! They are new missionaries that will be going through language training with us here in Entebbe.
  • We praise the Lord for our home and the many friends he is bringing into our lives.
  • We praise the Lord for the International Mission Board whom we serve with.

PeaseWe count it a privilege to walk this road with you! Thank you for all your prayers! We'd love to hear from you and to hear what the Lord is doing in your life. We ALWAYS want to hear your prayer needs.

Blessings,
Eric and Krisann Pease

What a powerful tool we have with prayer!

Thank you for your prayers!

Recently I have been re-examining my prayer life with the help of a book, "How to Develop a Powerful Prayer Life."

As a child we were taught to pray using the acronym ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication).

I have been challenged to take it a step deeper and would like to share with you what we are learning.

Here is our prayer:

Praise & Thanksgiving

  • God, You are our Comforter, Protector, Healer. You are the King of Kings. You are All Powerful. You are the Savior of the World.
  • Thank You for the arrival of our crate! Thank You for the fun it gave Colby and Emily as they rediscovered some of their toys. Thank You for teaching me that these things of ours are not ours, but are all Yours!
  • Thank you for Stacie and AmyRose, 2 girls from the states, who are living with us for a few months as they serve here in Entebbe. They have become big sisters to Colby and Emily and have been a huge encouragement to Eric and I.

Confession

  • Lord, forgive us for any judgmental thoughts we have had. And forgive us for our selfishness. Forgive me for getting so easily distracted. Show us our sin as we walk with You today. May we seek to clean out the wrong in our life so that You can fill us up with You.

Petition

  • Father, help us to learn the language. Give us ears to hear, mouths to speak, and eyes to see. Continue to grow our marriage into one that glorifies You. Keep us safe as we travel. Prepare us for our training in Zambia (April 22 - May 22). Help us to guide Colby and Emily toward You in all that we do.

Intercession

  • We pray for the Buganda people to hunger and thirst for the truth. We pray for Michael, our night guard, to hear Your voice.
  • Squeeze his heart. Pray for Pastor Moses and Pastor Matthew as they lead their churches on the islands. We lift up the country of
  • Madagascar and the missionaries there as they face unrest with the government.

Meditation

  • Reflect on God's Word and quietly listen for His still small voice. In the morning, I hear God's beautiful birds sing to me as I listen to Him. Be still and listen, He will speak to you, too.

May the Lord bless you today as you seek His face. Please keep us posted on how we can be praying for you.

In His Grace,

Eric and Krisann Pease

A day in the life of the Pease Family

Many have asked, so I thought it would make a fun update:

  • 6:00am Awake to the rooster crowing and the birds singing. Start the coffee and usually a load of laundry
  • 6:15am Spend time with the Lord
  • 7:00am Begin to prepare breakfast (typically eggs, pancakes, or banana bread) Wake-up Colby and Emily
  • 7:20am Eat breakfast and clean the dishes
  • 7:50am Hang the clothes to dry
  • 8:00am Colby and Emily go to school with Mom as their teacher
  • 10:00am Colby and Emily finish their work while Krisann and Eric begin language with Zituni, our tutor
  • 11:30am Eric and Krisann begin to prepare lunch while the children have language with Zituni (For lunch we will eat leftovers from the night before or vegetable stir-fry or anything simple)
  • 12:30pm We eat lunch, check to see if the clothes are dry, and do the dishes. Unless Florence is here. She helps with the cloths and dishes. She is a huge help!
  • 1:00pm Eric and Krisann back to language training.
  • 2:00pm Zituni leaves us with our homework assignment to be completed by the next day. If the laundry is dry, we then either have to have it all ironed or we put it in the electric dryer for 10 min. to be sure all the eggs are dead that the mango flies like to lay on wet clothes.
  • 3:00 - 5:00pm Study the language and/or go into town to practice the language. Ministry opportunities as the Lord leads
  • 5:00pm Begin to prepare dinner. No fast foods. It is mostly from scratch. The steak here is the best and very inexpensive.
  • 6:30pm Eat dinner and our night guard, Michael, arrives
  • 7:00pm Wash dishes and have the kids complete their homework and get their showers
  • 7:30pm Some days we either watch a movie or play a game
  • 8:30pm Family prayer time
  • 8:45pm Kids to bed
  • 9:30pm Eric and Krisann to bed
  • 11:00pm Dogs bark
  • 12:30am Dogs bark, we eventually go to sleep

This is our typical day Monday - Friday for the next 7 months.

Praises:

  • The visit from Vista Grande Baptist Church was a great time of encouragement
  • For all your prayers and encouraging words

Prayer Requests:

  • Continue to pray for the arrival of our crate.
  • Continue to pray for us to learn the language
  • Pray for us to follow God's lead with ministry opportunities
  • Pray for friends for Colby and Emily

In His Love,
Eric and Krisann Pease
