Year of Transformation
ABF Partnerships
1. The Lighthouse at Park Plaza area - This is the area north of I-635 and west of US-75. This area is 86% Hispanic and currently does not have any churches for the Hispanic population. Our plan for TRANSFORMATION is to partner with the following
a. The Lighthouse at Park Plaza Church Plant (continued partnership) - This summer our new church plant will be launched. Miguel Lopez is the prospective pastor.
b. Carolyn Bukhair Elementary School - This elementary school is in much need of volunteer help. This school sits in the middle of the TRANSFORMATION target area.
c. The Network of Community Ministries - Many of the network's clients come from this TRANSFORMATION target area.
2. Internationals currently living in our area. Some are refugees seeking shelter and a "new" start in our country; others are here for education. Most don't have a relationship with Christ. What a great opportunity to invest in the lives of others in order to invite them into a conversation about Christ! These internationals live only a few miles from our church. What a great way to influence the NATIONS for Christ in our own neighborhood! Our plan for TRANSFORMATION is to partner with the following -
a. Refugee Resources - An organization that ministers to refugees who have been brought here by our government from various nations. They arrive here and are given an apartment, but have hardly anything else.
b. International Student's, Inc. - An organization ministering to international college students who study in the U.S. Because there are so many international students who study at UTD, our church is in a perfect location to partner with this ministry.
3. Ministry with Adults who have Developmental Disabilities. Often times this is a forgotten population that live right in our own neighborhoods. Our plan for TRANSFORMATION is to partner with the following -
a. Circle of Friends - This is a ministry designed to provide fellowship for adults with developmental disabilities and their families. They meet each Tuesday evening in the West Wing from 7:00pm - 8:30pm during the school year.
b. Mosaic - This organization ministers to adults with developmental disabilities by providing housing, job training, and fellowship. There are two Mosaic group homes in Richardson.
