BAGANDA MINISTRY STRATEGY OVERVIEW

“…You were slain, and have redeemed us to God, by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.” (Rev 5:9)

Luganda, meaning relationship, is not only the heart language of the Baganda but also the heart of the Baganda people.  This affirms our commitment to fulfill God’s mission to redeem the Baganda through an incarnational witness.

Our end vision is to have third generation Baptist churches started by nationals in strategic locations throughout the Baganda kingdom.  This should allow for a successful exit strategy, anticipated by 2016.

Our ministry strategy begins with extensive survey work targeting unreached or unengaged pockets within the Baganda kingdom.  Along with survey work we will begin discipling and training national believers to walk along side with us in targeting youth through a sports camp ministry.  The sports camp will be a conduit in which to begin chronological Bible storying in targeted Baganda communities with an end result of a church planting movement.

Our sports camp strategy will be two fold.  We will build relationships with the youth through sports while presenting the gospel through chronological Bible storying.  We will train the youth in storying through story repetition, music and drama.  The children will be challenged to share the stories with their families and others in the community with accountability coming by way of follow-up visits.

The next phase of our ministry strategy, we will introduce the stateside church via community adoption.  Adoption will include prayer and evangelism support.  We will challenge support churches to be actively involved in camp and follow-up ministries.  Our follow-up visits will take place within weeks of the camp.  Each youth and their family will be visited as a part of youth accountability and evangelism outreach to the family.  At the end of a weeklong community visit we will incorporate broad seed sowing through the showing of the Jesus film and gospel presentation.

The next phase of our ministry strategy will be seeking out “Person or Persons of Peace” within the community from results of follow-up visits.  For those who show interest, we will meet together using a more in-depth bible storing time and an introduction to T4T.  We will begin to model the New Testament church that will be relevant and reproducible.  Our meeting will introduce discipleship through biblical teaching as mentioned above, leadership training, prayer, and indigenous worship and fellowship.  Each individual will be challenged to begin bible-storing groups within their community and surrounding communities following a T4T model.

Then, when a group has established a core group of believers we will work with the group to elect leaders from within the group based on spiritual character.  The church will be people based rather than building based to insure church growth.  The church will focus on teaching, discipleship, prayer, worship and evangelism following the New Testament model.

Since the Baganda are the largest people group in Uganda, numbering over 8 million, we will be relying heavily on our partnership with our national believers, partnering churches and engaging churches.  Our engaging churches will help us locate additional pockets of unreached or unengaged people within the Baganda kingdom to engage this new community through our camp ministry.  Youth from previous camps will be trained and invited to be part of our ministry, which will be one component of our discipling and evangelism strategies.
