Why Do I Think About God? - The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas

Wanting to know Jesus: curiosity or calling?

We’re in the middle of a sermon series that we’ve called “Why Do I Think About God?”  If you were with us last weekend on Easter Sunday, you may remember that we said:

We think about God because we long for a better world and a better life.  We think about God because we believe there has to be something more.  We think just maybe, God can give us that life.

This Sunday we will see that we think about God:

Because we realize we are deeply flawed individuals.  In our text we will see that we are broken cisterns.  (Don’t worry – we’ll explain what that word means on Sunday.)  We want to know if there is any hope for us.  We want to believe that there is some hope for forgiveness. We want to hope that we can make a fresh start We want to feel like we can experience redemption.  We want to be made whole again.

We will return to the Old Testament book of Jeremiah, known as the Weeping Prophet, who saw the brokenness of the people of Israel and wept over them.  He will be our teacher throughout this series.  He will speak to us in our brokenness.  Jeremiah not only understands, but he offers much needed hope.

I pray that you will make every effort to be with us throughout this three part series and will take some intentional steps to connect your heart with the heart of God.

God Bless,
Gary

Worship Blogs from the Heights

In an effort to aid our congregation in their preparation for corporate worship and times of private worship, Trent and Logan have begun to update a weekly blog where you can find out what we’ll be singing. In addition, many times the stories or scriptures behind the songs or the composers will be discussed as well. Check out the sites for links so you can experience the songs before we gather, or use it to find out more about a song you connected with in a powerful way. You can also access the blogs through the worship tab at www.theheights.org.
