Wanting to know Jesus: curiosity or calling?
That was the text message that came across Shawn’s phone from a neighbor of his with whom he had been developing a friendship. As their friendship progressed, Shawn’s friend found their relationship to be one where it was safe to ask questions about spiritual matters and even go a bit deeper below the normal surface level chit-chat that we often have with the people who live next door to us.
It was this simple text message that spawned the whole idea for this sermon series that we are starting this Easter Sunday morning. After praying about it and considering the heart behind that initial text message to Shawn, I believe we all find ourselves thinking about God more often than not.
Do you find yourself thinking about Him at odd times throughout the week?
- Driving down the road.
- In a meeting at the office while your supervisor’s going over the latest sales figures.
- In history class, while the teacher lectures on the original thirteen colonies.
- Or when you pull up at the mall and a parking spot just happens to open up on the front row closest to the door. Do you ever think...“God, did you do that?”
- Or when you’re at Chick-Fil-A and you see a dad praying over his food with his son before a meal. Do you stop and think about God?
- At odd times throughout the week, do you ever find yourself wondering what God is thinking about you?
In case you are still thinking about the answer to that last question, the reason Jesus came from Heaven to earth to die on a cross and come back to life is because He is crazy about you! He loves you with an undying love that can literally change your life for eternity.
Join us Sunday as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and begin to explore this question that we all deal with: WHY DO I THINK ABOUT GOD?
The answer may surprise you! As you prepare your hearts for worship this Sunday, know that I am praying God opens the eyes of your heart and soul to who Jesus is and what Jesus wants for your life in ways that will change your course for all eternity. If you have not yet invited someone to be your guest on Sunday, remember the video from last week: BE BOLD! INVITE SOMEONE! THEY JUST MIGHT SAY, “OK…I’LL GO.”
God Bless,
Gary

Worship Blogs from the Heights
In an effort to aid our congregation in their preparation for corporate worship and times of private worship, Trent and Logan have begun to update a weekly blog where you can find out what we’ll be singing. In addition, many times the stories or scriptures behind the songs or the composers will be discussed as well. Check out the sites for links so you can experience the songs before we gather, or use it to find out more about a song you connected with in a powerful way. You can also access the blogs through the worship tab at www.theheights.org.
