Risk - The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas

I am typically the kind of guy who likes to finish what I start. Back in March we walked through a sermon series called ENCRYPTION based out of Matthew 13. We looked at some of the parables that Jesus taught to those who were following Him and dug a bit deeper than the surface level of the story to find some of the encrypted truths that Jesus was really trying to convey. You may remember that it was also during that sermon series I got really ill the morning I was prepared to preach one of the sermons during that series. It was the first time in the history of my ministry that I had to call in sick on a day I was slated to preach. John Wills came to the rescue and pinch hit for me at the last moment (and did an excellent job with a sermon from Colossians.  If you missed that day you can see it on our website at www.theheights.org.)

Like I said, I am a man who likes to finish what I started. Therefore, this Sunday I will finish the last sermon from the ENCRYPTION sermon series out of Matthew 13 that deals with RISK in our lives.  I look forward to returning to these teachings of Jesus before heading into our summer sermon series the last weekend of May that we are calling INBOX. During that series we will try to respond to some of the questions that were submitted into our inbox dealing with questions of faith, the Bible, and a variety of questions that circle around topics worthy of spiritual conversation.

As we head towards the summer, will you make it a point to be in step with God as best you can? Will you invest quiet moments alone with God each day reading His Word, memorizing parts of Scripture, remaining in an attitude of prayer, and finding yourself ENGAGED in acts of serving others and sharing the gospel with those who come across your path? As we live intentionally for Christ, God will be glorified and our lives will begin to find that fullness that we talked about last Sunday.

God Bless,
Gary

New ABF for Single Adults: Wheelhouse

On a ship, the Wheelhouse is where the captain steers his chosen course. In a watermill, it is where the water powers the gears and makes things go. In baseball, it is the sweet spot of a bat that knocks it out of the park every time. At The Heights, “The Wheelhouse” is where Single Adults (40’s, 50’s and early 60’s) meet for fellowship, teaching, and discussion. Join us at The Wheelhouse coming June 13th at 10:50 a.m. in Room 232! For more information, email singles@theheights.org.
