DON’T FORGET: THIS SUNDAY IS MOTHER’S DAY!
Of all the things on my “to-do” list, one thing I certainly do not want to forget this week is to call my mom and tell her how much I love and appreciate her. I hope you will take the time to do something special for your mom this Mother’s Day weekend as well. One of the great gifts that God gives us is a mom who loves, nurtures, cares for and helps us each to grow up to be all we can be. To all the moms out there: THANK YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU DO!
Moms have one of the toughest jobs in the world. In fact, this weekend I will begin a sermon series that speaks to one of the primary aspects that moms and dads are tasked with by God that truly does have eternal implications on the lives of your children. It is a job that if we are not careful can slip through the cracks, get pushed to the side, and sometimes just gets taken for granted that your kids will pick it up somewhere along the way if you just keep them in church long enough. So what is this ever-important but sometimes difficult job? Teaching your children how to READ THE BIBLE. And not just read it, but read it in such a way that it begins to get into them so that they become a people who live out what the pages of Scripture speak of from Genesis to Revelation.
I hope you will make it a priority to be in God’s house this weekend as we dive into Psalm 119 and discover what it means to be IN IT TO LIVE IT. If we are going to be the people God desires and designed us to be, we must consistently feast on God’s Word as we then seek to live it out in every aspect of our daily lives.
God Bless,
Gary
P.S. A special thanks also goes out to all who helped to make last week’s ENGAGE SUNDAY such an absolute success all throughout our community. So many of you worked together with such Christ-like attitudes and actions on that day as you helped to show people in our community great pictures of God. Thanks for choosing to be the hands and feet of Christ as you blessed people through your actions and your kind words. This is the type of stuff that makes Jesus smile!

ENGAGE Sunday 2010
What huge success ENGAGE SUNDAY was this year!!! Thanks to all who were a part of this special day to GO AND BE the Church rather than simply coming to church last Sunday. If you have not checked out www.goandbe.org you can get a bigger picture of all that went on that day. Also, you can see some really “GOOD GOSSIP” that has been going around from the efforts that took place as a part of ENGAGE SUNDAY.
A few years ago Pastor Gary asked the question: “If The Heights ceased to exist, would anyone in our community even miss us?”
Again…the answer is a resounding: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check out the links below for the “GOOD GOSSIP”…special thanks to David and Carolyn Alvey for the great PR work on the ENGAGE SUNDAY opportunities.
